Celebrating IWD with an inspiring event from Intrepid232 team and LEAP programme girls
This International Women’s Day we were lucky enough to celebrate with some truly inspiring women. On 8 March, we hosted over 50 guests at a fantastic event to listen to the incredible Intrepid232 team, recently back from their world record-breaking row across the Atlantic and celebrate their incredible achievement. We were also thrilled to welcome three talented students from Jersey College for Girls, Cassandra, Aarya and Ketaki, who are all former or current participants on the LEAP programme. Rossborough is very proud to support both the Inrepid232 team and the LEAP female leadership programme.

Hailey Gautier, a Personal Lines broker at Rossborough who is currently studying for her CERT CII qualification and is one of our rising stars, shares her thoughts following the inspiring event.

It was an incredible experience to be surrounded by so many accomplished women to celebrate the successes of one another for International Women’s Day. To be in the presence of many women from different industries and within different stages of their careers was truly an experience that won’t be forgotten easily.

The young ladies from the LEAP programme were incredibly impressive, displaying many skills in their early years that I have only just begun to grasp. They shared their experiences surrounding teamwork, overcoming obstacles, and contributing to projects that they were clearly passionate about. The ladies of Intrepid232 were extraordinary whilst sharing their experiences on their record-breaking journey across the Atlantic, giving examples of their ups and downs.

I was truly inspired by both the LEAP participants and the members of Intrepid232. They all shared their challenges and their creative solutions, along with celebrating in each other’s success. I find that sometimes in sharing our success we fail to mention the challenges we face along the way; it was heart-warming to receive an insight into the obstacles both the young women from LEAP and Intrepid232 faced. Their resilience and support for each other inspired me, their drive and passion certainly shone through when they relived their experiences with us.

I am currently studying towards my CERT CII qualification, and I found the first exam to be ‘smooth sailing.’ I was confident and passionate towards my studies and that was reflected in my exam results. However, my confidence was shortly shaken after failing my second exam by one mark, which caused me to delay a resit through fear that I might fail again despite trying harder than ever. The event this International Women’s Day helped me realise these incredible, powerful women have set a world record despite the challenges they faced; these brilliant young women have excelled and truly made an impressive statement to an entire audience and I’m sure there are times that they have all been scared to fail. Their resilience and drive were immensely contagious, and it was a humbling experience to share with so many accomplished women from different roles in different industries. I was inspired to overcome my fear of failure and take the plunge. We are bound to face obstacles in all areas of our lives at some point; but it’s how we face them that determines the outcome.
