GROWing with Locate Guernsey
Last week, we were the delighted proud sponsors of GROW, an event hosted by Locate Guernsey.
Guernsey-based charity GROW provides training and mentoring in horticulture and other skills for people with learning disabilities and difficulties.
The event was well attended by recent relocators to Guernsey and invited guests to enjoy a drinks and canapés reception at the Farmhouse Hotel, Guernsey. Guests also listened to and a special presentation from the team at the Guernsey-based charity GROW about the excellent work they continue to do on the island.
After 37 years, the charity has decided to completely redevelop their Les Petits Quartiers site with purpose-built facilities that will facilitate first class training and mentoring for people with learning disabilities for several decades to come. In addition to the horticultural tutoring space, the new site will now include a workshop providing wood and metal working, a paint shop, and craft area to manufacture a wide range of products for sale in the retail space.
They plan to share the facilities with other like-minded charities who could also use the space for their own work.
As a local and community-based insurer, it was fantastic to be working alongside Locate Guernsey to support GROW’s new site redevelopment initiative.
As sponsors of the event, we provided drinks and canapes for the guests, as well as a gift of recycled paper with forget me not seeds inside, so guests can plant them once you are finished with them – even that tag and pencil could be planted. We were inspired by GROW’s initiatives and connection with nature to provide a sustainable gift for the guests.
